So I have just officially done my first Newborn Photoshoot. It is something that I have wanted to offer for a long time but couldn’t rush into until I knew what I was doing. Earlier this month I did a Newborn Photography Training Course with the baby whisperer academy. I learned a lot but mainly how to pose a newborn safely. I don’t have any children myself yet so haven’t had much experience with newborns up until that point. It was important to me that I knew what I was doing when it came to photographing a newborn. After all babies safety is paramount and you want to be able to trust the person that is handling and posing your newborn.
My first newborn was 15 day old Ivy. She was born on 12.12.12 so one very special little lady. I was very lucky as I have never met such a sleepy baby. From the moment I set up my equipment she was out like a light. She was the perfect little model and I got some amazing pictures. The entire session took just over three hours as it allows time for feeding, changing and cuddles. But it all depends on the willingness of the newborn to sleep. It has got to have been one of my best photoshoots to date and I’ve got to say I’m hooked (and a little broody). I cannot wait to photograph my next newborn.
Here’s a selection of my favourites from Ivy’s photoshoot.
